Enjoying a drink or two is always a great way to unwind, or just to spend some quality time with your loved ones, but you know what’s better than that? Drinks with a view, and that means heading up to a rooftop bar! Rooftop bars provide spectacular views of the surroundings, and going up during the day and night can provide a completely different kind of vibe. If you’re thinking about enjoying drinks while gazing out across the KL cityscape, you have definitely got to go to Mai Bar at KL Sentral.

About Mai Bar

Launched together with Aloft KL Sentral in 2013, Mai Bar is KL Sentral’s only rooftop bar, which features a unique Polynesian Tiki theme. It aims to provide a blend of dynamic drinks, a laid-back atmosphere, and live music (during non-COVID times). As KL Sentral is a travel-and-business hub with many office buildings and the KLIA Express nearby, Mai Bar was created to provide a much-needed respite from the rat race. The result? A funky watering hole in the sky that is a familiar place to return to, which you could call “My Bar”, except it’s Mai Bar. Furthermore, Tiki-themed bars are rather unusual in the local scene, adding to its uniqueness. Fun fact: all wooden tiki carvings at Mai Bar were done on-site in the hotel!

Crafting Drinks, Curating Experiences

Naresh, the Beverage Manager of Mai Bar, is intuitive, creative, and highly passionate. Armed with almost a decade’s worth of experience in mixology, he crafts enticing, exciting signature cocktails, one of which is the Moana Puru, Mai Bar’s Polynesian-influenced bestselling cocktail. Naresh, together with his team of 12 sassy staff including two mixologists, form the living, beating heart of Mai Bar, crafting drinks and curating experiences for both local and international guests alike. All in all, they hope to provide guests with the perfect way to punctuate an exhilarating day, whether of work or play; offering up delicious drinks, sassy service, and stunning views. When at Mai Bar, do go for their Moana Puru: a refreshing mix of vodka, passion fruit puree, blue curaçao, lime juice, and lemonade. Alternatively, opt for their Princess Mai Tai, their spin on a classic cocktail: served in a Tiki-themed mug, it’s a mixture of pineapple and orange juice, silver rum pressed with blueberries and kaffir lime, and topped off with golden rum!

Tiki Rooftop!

Mai Bar is the only rooftop bar in the KL Sentral area, and also the only tiki-themed bar. If you’re on the hunt for some excellent panoramic views, all you have to do to head on over to Mai Bar. What’s more, in-house guests can also enjoy a cold drink as they lounge decide Splash, their rooftop infinity pool–also the only one in the area. That’s not all, for their culinary team has also prepared juicy, succulent burgers–affordable Wagyu, Angus and more–perfect to enjoy with your drink! At the moment, as we’re all riding out the pandemic, live music has been put on pause, and they have also reduced their capacity and operating hours. However, Mai Bar is still keeping spirits high by providing patrons with a hangout spot to unwind, complete with a specially created playlist that belts out smooth tunes.
