About Eric Nah
A photographer at Sanren, Eric first dabbled in the photography industry when he was in university. Back then, his senior was a wedding photographer, and his senior asked Eric to assist him at one wedding. That was his first brush with the photography industry, though he didn’t take it seriously till he graduated. Upon graduation, Eric took a gap year to discover and understand his passion and his desires in life to avoid regrets later in life. He joined the finance industry at first, but decided to pursue photography in the end. Sanren is founded by Rayson Lo, and has seven team members consisting of photographers, cinematographers and makeup artists. They have two branches in Batu Pahat and Johor Bahru respectively.
Pausing & Documenting Moments
Eric believes that the only way to stop time is to photograph it, and that photos are like a non-written life journal. He looks back on his childhood photos, and feels lucky that his parents took them. This sense of nostalgia motivates Eric to document life through the lenses, and to pause moments. In line with this, Eric’s photography is based on documenting, and he loves mixing up spontaneous or raw moments and stories into his shoots. He prefers timeless photos, and believes that the mixture of spontaneity and storytelling is key to timeless photography.
Timeless Is Classic
As aforementioned, capturing photographs that are timeless is what Eric prefers, and he believes this also sets him apart. In his photos, Eric aims to capture the rawness and spontaneity of couples, as well as their emotions. However, he sometimes finds it a challenge when couples do not grasp the concept of timeless photography or depicting raw moments, and he tries his best to educate them regarding this concept. Though based in Batu Pahat and Johor Bahru, they also shoot for couples in Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Couples who love timeless photography will love Eric and Sanren! And for Eric, there is no greater gift and achievement than the appreciation and recognition of couples.
Nurturing Creatives
Within the next five years, Eric and Sanren hope to gather more people who embodies the value towards aesthetic and artistic sensation, as Sanren is also a space for nurturing creatives. Sanren has ventured into different kinds of fields, and current they also have a new space in Batu Pahat called “NiQiu”, a space for them to spark ideas and connect with like-minded people!
