When the topic of discussion revolves around ‘exercise’ or ‘fitness’, people usually associate those words with the idea of losing weight or gaining strength. However, a large number of people fail to see that to be able to push one’s body to the next level, they must be able to understand and listen to their own bodies, which can be achieved through self-realisation. By placing attention to the nourishment of the mind and soul, we can advance on the path of personal growth – this is the belief of BYCH Yoga Hub.
BYCH Yoga Hub offers a wonderful space for yoga enthusiasts to come together and deepen their practice, while exploring different forms of yoga from hot and non-hot to yin and flow under some of the island’s best teachers. Aside from yoga asanas, BYCH Yoga Hub also offers meditation classes for beginners and advanced students, absolutely free of charge.
They offer a medley of yoga styles – hot classic (Bikram-style), hatha, flow, yin, aroma yoga, etc – as well as, workshops targeting specific areas of practice that need strengthening. For example, inversion, arm balance and core strengthening workshops. They also have meditation classes for beginners and advanced practitioners. Lastly, they also have high-quality yoga apparel and accessories imported from the U.S. and China.
The BYCH Story
In the early part of 2016, the owner of Singapore School of Meditation and Yoga (SSMY) was given an opportunity to acquire an old studio that used to specialise only on Bikram-style yoga. He then decided to add a medley of other yoga styles to make the studio more inclusive and versatile., and that’s how BYCH Yoga Hub came about.
The founder, Joseph Bismark or Sriman Japadas as he is known among friends and students, is a yoga master who spent a good deal of his childhood living in an ashram or a spiritual community in the Philippines. It was there that he learned to embrace a life of spirituality, austerity and deeper appreciation of nature and human connections.
A Higher Purpose For BYCH
BYCH Yoga Hub offers a lot more than just a yoga space. Their doors are open to anyone wishing to deepen his or her practice of yoga and meditation. For them, it is also a place for their members to hang out after a long, tedious day at work. Their interiors have been designed to look especially warm and welcoming, so that their members and guests will feel right at home from the moment they step in. They are in the business of helping people achieve their wellness goals through yoga and meditation, and they hope to be able to make a difference in as many lives as we can touch.
BYCH Yoga Hub exists primarily to spread the joy of living well. They believe in the pursuit of a healthy body, soul and mind, through the regular practice of yoga asana and meditation. In a world so focused on achievements and material acquisition, the human body inevitably succumbs to stress, rendering it debilitated. By providing a space for their clients to nourish their body, soul and mind through yoga and meditation, they hope to play a role in the betterment of their wellbeing.
The Journey To Achieve Perfection
Yoga in Singapore is a very competitive business, so in order to keep ahead of the game, they find the need to continuously improve. They take pride in their top-grade facilities and also the quality of our teachers. They also try to come up with exciting promos and thematic workshops on a regular basis. At the end of the day, they think that all yoga studios will have the same thing to offer to the public – from yoga classes to studio space. At BYCH Yoga Hub, they don’t really like to compare themselves with what’s out there. Instead, they focus on continuously improving in all areas and making sure that their clients are happy. Albeit so, they believe what sets them apart is their free meditation classes and also, that their Bikram-style classes are said to be the among the best on the island.
Their goal is to establish BYCH Yoga Hub as one of the best yoga studios in Singapore, with the most loyal following among yoga practitioners and enthusiasts. They want to be able to offer more in terms of workshops or events and replicate the success of BYCH Yoga Hub in other parts of Asia.
We always say that while it’s good to achieve perfection in postures, that is not the be all and end all of who we are. At BYCH Yoga Hub, we have a more holistic approach to the yoga path of life. As mentioned previously, we look at the physical, mental and spiritual facets of the yoga lifestyle and incorporate that as much as we can in our classes. So for us, the goal of perfection is good but the journey greatly matters as well.
