Who doesn’t love a good burger? Burgers are one of life’s greatest pleasures, given their mouth-watering combo of a juicy patty and other assorted ingredients sandwiched between the buns. So, if you are craving for one, check out these Top 10 Burger Joints in KL & Selangor.
Among the pioneers that started our local gourmet burger craze back in 2012, myBurgerLab has been a mainstay of its kind even until today. Their enduring success is plain and simple: great-tasting burgers that is worth every bite. Freshly-baked charcoal buns on a daily basis, homemade patties and burgers that are only made fresh upon order… what’s not to love? Beef lovers may want to go for their Beautiful Mess 5.0, a savoury combination of cheddar beef patty with deep-fried portobello mushroom and a sunny side up egg. Those who prefer their burger sweet and savoury can look forward to myBurgerLab’s peanut buttery Jamming With Elvis / Fat Elvis or the maple syrup-covered Hangover. Even if you are not into beef, they have chicken and meatless options. For a complete meal, don’t forget to top up your burger with a set of seasoned fries and yes, a bottomless soda.
Pebble made its debut in late 2018, offering gourmet burgers using only quality ingredients, namely 100% Australian beef for their beef burger menu. Among their signature varieties include the O.G. (beef patty stuffed with deep-fried onion rings, cheese slice and turkey strips) and Butter Up!, a fried chicken burger with butter sauce and curry leaves. You can locate them in TTDI.
Old but gold, the SS15-based Burgertory is one of the earlier homegrown establishments in offering handmade gourmet burgers. As expected, they insist on only quality ingredients with their burgers all freshly made regardless of buns, patties or even the sauces. The only possible downside is that Burgertory happens to be a non-halal burger joint since they serve pork and alcohol in the menu. Other than pork, they also serve beef, chicken and vegetarian burger varieties.
4) KGB – Killer Gourmet Burgers
Here’s a gourmet burger joint that needs no introduction, given their well-known establishments in prime locations including Bangsar, The Gardens and TTDI. Then in late 2018, they opened another outlet in Pavilion KL. Their menu covers a diverse range of burgers with options that include grilled, fried or crust-seared. And you’ll get what you pay for, with KGB insists on high-quality patties (100% Australian grass-fed beef and premium, non-frozen chicken).
5) Spade’s Burger
Hailing all the way from Penang, Spade’s Burger has already made its mark in Perak, Klang Valley and Johor Bahru. They offer a wide variety of burgers ranging from beef to pork, chicken and salmon fillet. No matter which burger you choose, ingredients come sandwiched between their signature charcoal buns and homemade Spade’s sauce. Some of their burgers worth trying include Dark Knight (a choice of pork or beef patty topped with cheddar, cheese crisp, caramelised bacon bits and Spade’s Sauce) and the fried chicken fillet-based Hot Chick 2.0. Of course, those who prefer something simple can opt for the good old classic Cheeseburger or Hamburger.
6) Beatles & Buns
If the name sounds familiar, that’s because this Desa Sri Hartamas-based burger joint is themed after the eponymous legendary British band itself. They serve quality burgers here, with all of their patties made in-house on a daily basis. Highlights include their signature Classic Beef Burger, a juicy mix of grass-fed Australian beef patty with balsamic onions and chipotle mayo sandwiched between sesame buns. The burger also comes with a side serving of thick-cut russet potato fries — a hearty combo just enough to fill your tummy. Other burgers you can find here include chicken, soft shell crab and vegetarian varieties.
7) Fuel Shack
At first glance, it’s easy to mistake Fuel Shack for being another typical fast-food joint. But Fuel Shack is dedicated to making good burgers with quality and the freshest ingredients available. For instance, they use only 100% grass-fed Australian beef and lamb for some of their burger varieties. You can locate them in Klang Valley shopping malls such as Suria KLCC, Plaza Low Yat and Quill City Mall.
8) Burger Bakar Abang Burn
Believe it or not, Burger Bakar Abang Burn has been around since 2012. And it’s easy to see why they succeeded, beginning with their homemade patties and reasonable prices for a gourmet burger. Those who love all things cheese may want to go for their signature Cheese Aligot, where the patty of your choice (beef/chicken) is individually wrapped with a thick layer of hot-from-the-pan imported French cheese.
9) Wayback Burgers Malaysia
Craving for some authentic American burgers? Here’s one for you: the Wayback Burgers, which was first established in Delaware back in 1991. But it wasn’t until 2017 before the US burger joint made its international debut in Malaysia at Taman Melawati, KL. They use never-frozen patties to retain their freshness and if that’s not enough, their burgers are only made upon order.
10) The Daily Grind Gourmet Burgers
Here’s an interesting fact about The Daily Grind: Did you know they happen to be KL’s first-ever gourmet burger restaurant back in 2008? First established in Bangsar before gradually expanding to another outlet in Ampang, The Daily Grind’s secret of success lies within their premium-quality patties, which are all imported and freshly ground in-house. But that’s not all, as their burgers consist of the freshest ingredients available layered with homemade sauces and only made upon order.
That’s not all! More Top 10s in Malaysia are waiting to be discovered!
