Thanks to hit TV shows like Glee and films like Pitch Perfect, A Capella music is gaining a lot of momentum lately. This extends to Singapore as well, where many individuals have come together to show how versatile acapella can be as an artform. Here are the Top 10 A Capella groups in Singapore.

1) 1023


Six voices and no instruments. That’s the exact recipe that makes 1023. With a soprano, mezzo-soprano, alto, tenor, bass and vocal percussionist in queue, this group has all the necessary vocalists required to sing just about any melody. They’ve even been featured in ads that showcase their vocal talents, so be sure to follow them on their social media to view more of their musical endeavors.

2) KEY Elements

KEY Elements

For a more jazz-tinged acapella group, there is KEY Elements. Also a six-piece group, their repertoire features everything from classic jazz standards to contemporary numbers and songs in languages other than English. They formed in 2001, and since then have performed seven sold out concerts within Singapore. 3) SMU Voix

SMU Voix

Singapore Management University has their own A Capella group called VOIX. They’re able to perform a wide range of songs, including those from pop, swing and jazz genres. They can have up to 15 members singing at a time. VOIX not only performs for SMU events but also at external gigs. Besides this, they’ve won numerous awards since 2011.

4) The Accidentals

The Accidentals consists of a group of working professionals in their late 20s and early 30s who were brought together in 2010 by their love of music and singing. To date, they have performed at various corporate, festive and charity events. 5) C Majors

C Majors

This fun bunch grouped up in 2016, when they were asked to perform at Changi General Hospital for Christmas. It’s been a steady incline of performances since, as C Majors has performed at events like East Asia YMCA Urban Network 2017, and IGNITE!Capella. Besides singing oldies, they also sing pop hits.

6) NUS Resonance

NUS Resonance

Resonance was formed in 2001, as part of NUS’s Cultural Activities Club. Their members consist of people from diverse musical backgrounds, which means the songs they perform range from pop to rock and even techno. With a goal to promote acapella music within and outside campus, they’ve even participated in Championships and concerts locally. Additionally, they’ve won A Capella competitions in Korea and Taiwan.

7) ITE That Acappella Group

ITE That Acappella Group

Known as “The Pop Band without Instruments”, That Acapella Group – or T.A.G hails from ITE Centre for Music and Arts. They sing mostly pop hits, as they want to stay current. With support from vocal instructor Mr. Dylan Foster, they intend to bring pop A Capella to the masses. Besides winning championships locally, they also perform at corporate events.

8) MICappella


MICapella has participated in China’s first A Capella reality TV Show – The Sing-Off China. They managed to come in first runner-up, representing Singapore. Among the genres they perform include Pop, Rock, Ballads, and more. 9) The Apex Project

The Apex Project

Formed in April 2016, The Apex Project may be new to the scene but have already made considerable impact in the local A Capella industry. With their theatrical twist to pop and jazz standards, they’ve managed to be champions not only locally but at Vocal Asia Taiwan as well. 10) Kent Ridge Acappella

Kent Ridge Acapella has performed at numerous places, from Christmas parties to corporate events.
