Ever wonder how can you spend a weekend at Sabah if you are from Peninsular Malaysia? Here’s how.
1) Take the morning flight
Find the morning flight that will allow you to reach Sabah in the morning as well. For example, the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah will take approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. You can take the flight at 6:30 am from Kuala Lumpur and you will reach Kota Kinabalu, Sabah at 9:00 am. Hence, you will not lose the day from flying.

2) Rent a car at the airport
Rent a car at the airport once you arrived. Having a car will give you the flexibility to move around and save your time from waiting for transport.

3) Drive to the hotel nearby Mount Kinabalu National Park
You have to make sure that you have booked a place to stay near Mount Kinabalu National Park. There are plenty of places to stay for a night nearby the area. One of it is the JResidence. It is about 300 meters away from the Mount Kinabalu National Park. Drive to the place to check-in. Make a stop for food (breakfast) along the journey.

4) Hike Mount Kinabalu National Park
Once you’ve checked in, had your lunch, you can start hiking at the Mount Kinabalu National Park. Just follow the map provided by the park. Since you start hiking in the evening, make sure you are out of the jungle before dark. You can also have your dinner at the park.

5) Poring Hotspring
On the second day, checked out, have your breakfast and drive to the Poring Hotspring in which houses both open air and private cabin baths whose water contains sulphur that is known for its skin curative properties. Other than the natural hot spring, there are also other interesting areas to be visited such as the waterfall and the canopy walkway.

6) Kiulu River white water rafting
From the Poring Hotspring, drive to the Kiulu River for white water rafting. It is on your way back to Kota Kinabalu. Just make sure that you made a stop for lunch along the way before reaching Kiulu river. You also have to book your timing for the white water rafting before you reach there.

7) To the airport for the night flight back home
From Kiulu river, drive back to the Kota Kinabalu International Airport to take your night flight back home. You can stop and have your dinner along the drive or you can have your dinner in the flight. Depending on your timing.
