Malaysia’s book lovers must have imagined this to happen countless times. A place to escape from the world; the feeling of being completely absorbed in books, at any time they wished, especially during the long nights of insomnia. At long last, it has happened. Malaysia now has a 24-hour bookstore, by BookXcess!
A 24-Hour BookXcess
On 31st of May, BookXcess launched their newest store in Tamarind Square, Cyberjaya. Boasting 37,000 square feet and over 500,000 books with numerous genres, it is currently the largest bookstore in the whole of Malaysia. It is also the nation’s first ever 24-hour bookstore. BookXcess chose Tamarind Square due to its scenic landscape; surrounded by nature, the new bookstore is meant to provide an escape from the harsh city life and for visitors to be inspired.
The proud parent store of Big Bad Wolf Book Sale, BookXcess is more than just a book store. Not only does it sell books at 50%-80% off regular prices, but it also provides free WiFi service, a cafe, ample reading/working space, a stage, and two event spaces. If you’re not one of those share-the-same-reading-space-with-others kind of person (that’s me), they also have individual cubicles available, letting you enjoy your book in solitude.
Back in 2006, BookXcess opened its very first store in Amcorp Mall, Petaling Jaya. In recent years, they have opened more and more bookstores, and have several stores in the Klang Valley area, such as the Starling Mall, Fahrenheit 88, One Utama, and SS15 Courtyard.
Forget sleep, this is what we need! See you there!
