Loob Holding Sdn Bhd, the creator of leading lifestyle tea brand Tealive, responded to a call for help from Sabah frontliners with an immediate contribution of RM100,000 to the MMA Sabah COVID-19 Fund.
Appreciating the Frontliners
Founder and Chief Executive Officer Bryan Loo Woi Lip said the contribution was a small token of appreciation for the tremendous sacrifices of the medical team in Sabah in combating this pandemic.
“When we realised the enormous struggle of the frontliners there, we immediately decided to do our part as we understood the urgency. We hope our small contribution can go towards easing the plight of our medical heroes and volunteers who are on the ground every day,” said Loo.
Sabah Needs Help
The Sabah chapter of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) had set up the COVID-19 Fund to meet the increasing need for medical supplies in Sabah. The third-wave of COVID-19 saw more than half of the new cases reported daily coming from Sabah. Hospitals are overwhelmed with patients and needs in medical supplies are increasing.
Doctors, nurses and other medical staff are doing their best to cope but often they face limitations.
Loo expressed his gratitude towards all the men and women on the frontline who had to fight fatigue and logistical challenges during this critical phase of Sabah’s fight against Covid-19.
“Our thoughts are with all the people of Sabah as they face this pandemic. As a homegrown brand, Tealive, stands with all Malaysians during this extremely critical time in the history of our nation,” he said.
In response, MMA President Professor Dato’ Dr Subramaniam Muniandy said: ”We wish to express our deepest gratitude to Loob Holding Sdn Bhd for their generous contribution in this most difficult time for the state of Sabah. As cases have been continually on the rise in the State, there will be need for continuous supplies of PPE, medical supplies and other COVID-19 relief measures. Helping to equip our healthcare workers is one way the private sector can play a special role in the fight against COVID-19. It is hoped that more corporate organisations will similarly come forward in aid of Sabah,” he said.
MMA Foundation Chairman Datuk Dr. Krishna Moorthy Appalanaidu received the contribution on behalf of the MMA Sabah COVID-19 Fund from Loob Holding international business director Bryan Yeow and Chief Operating Officer Loo Chee Leng.

All proceeds from the MMA Sabah COVID-19 Fund will go towards the purchase of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), medical equipment and supplies as well as other related COVID-19 relief measures.
Since Oct 1st , more than 10,000 cases have been recorded in Sabah. The active case to population ratio is 18 times higher in Sabah than in Peninsular Malaysia while the fatality ratio is 8.6 times higher.
Contributions to the MMA Sabah COVID-19 Fund can be made directly to the Malaysian Medical Association Foundation at United Overseas Bank account no: 1063057741 (Recipient reference: Sabah Covid). Cheques are to be made payable to MMA FOUNDATION. All donations above RM250 to this fund are tax exempted.
