Not all of us are fortunate enough to live near a grocery store or have the means to go to a grocery store. This can be due to a variety of reasons but it’s a reality. As a result, we have seen a huge surge in online shopping for groceries. One big name that stands out is Tesco as delivering groceries is a service they have been offering pre-MCO. However, because of this huge surge, the retail brand is receiving more orders and require more manpower. As such, they are looking to hire people for this upcoming Ramadan period.

Ramadan 2020

Ramadan in Malaysia is a really big event where family and friends usually break fast together. While there are many who can’t balik kampung this year, it’s important to make the most of things.

Therefore, a lot of families will be at home cooking and breaking fast together. Of course groceries and ingredients will be needed and Tesco is expecting to receive lots of customers during this period.

Whether they physically walk into a Tesco (one person per family!) or order online, the grocery store needs help. Which is why they are looking for about 600 people to join the team for at least the next seven weeks.

New employees will be assigned across 60 stores nationwide as well as Tesco online. The positions include Store Associates, Cashiers, Tesco Online Pickers, and Customer Delivery Assistants. With the hiring of new employees, the existing ones will get more rest as well.

Malaysians between the ages of 18 to 60 with a minimum of SPM are eligible. Those with special needs are also welcome to apply for the opening. No previous experience is necessary for any of the roles.

Interviews with candidates will be via the phone so they can stay at home. Anyone who is interested can email recruitment.operation@tesco.com. Alternatively, call the Service Hotline at 1300-13-1313 or walk-in at your nearest outlet for an application form.

Remember to Stay Safe

Moving on, if you do start working at Tesco then remember to stay safe because it’s still some rocky times. Always wash your hands, sneeze or cough into your elbows, and don’t touch your face.

Furthermore, as helpful as you might need to be with customers, try to stand at a safer distance. Remember that 1 metre is considered the minimum distance between people.

And above all, when you get home don’t go close to anyone especially the elderly. Immediately take a shower and soak your clothes in soapy water. Lastly, take care of yourself and remember to do your best to stay healthy.
