Sleep In & Enjoy Brunch Instead At These 9 Places In Bukit Damansara

“Brunch is breakfast without an alarm.” Wow, I couldn’t agree more with this quote that I came across on my social media the other day. On the days where you want to and can sleep in a little longer than usual such as the weekends, you wouldn’t want to be awaken by the alarm. Of course, this also means that by the time you’re up, that usual timing where people eat breakfast has passed. Instead, you get to have brunch (which I personally think is a brilliant concept!).

Damansara Heights or also known as Bukit Damansara is home to the National Science Centre but that’s not all. It’s a very happening place with plenty of eateries, cafes, and bars to explore. And if you are in the area for brunch, here are 9 places to try:

1. 385F Cafe

Your friendly neighbourhood joint – 385fCafe is a cosy café with a minimalistic interior, good coffee, and a pretty wide selection of food. If you are looking for a lighter meal for crunch, give their bestseller Mushroom Cheese Sandwich a go. For something heavier, they have pasta, rice bowls and Western dishes for you to choose from. In terms of coffee, they have a cold brew line to satisfy your caffeine cravings.

2. Blonde

Just having been there for my birthday dinner, it crossed my mind that it would also make for a really nice brunch spot with your besties or with partner. Giving off a chic and contemporary vibe, there are lots of corners in the restaurant to take IG-worthy pictures! Food-wise, their breakfast/brunch options look really interesting as they are Australian inspired but with a local twist.

3. Cotta

Not exactly the place you would think of finding an eatery, Cotta is hidden inside the A1 Fresh Mini Market at Bukit Damansara. A small but cosy café, you will have to walk into the mini market and locate the staircase that leads up to Cotta. Specialising in ricotta, their menu may be limited but you will not be disappointed with any of the options! Make sure you make a reservation if you’re planning to drop by as they have limited seats.

4. Nourish by Kenny Hills Bakers

Serving up delicious brunch, salads, and mains, with a focus on gluten-free and plant-based meals, Nourish is a spin-off by the people behind Kenny Hills Baker. A popular place to have your brunch, you are spoiled for choice as you walk into the bakery slash café and see the array of pastries, pies, and salads that are on the counter. Their breakfast menu is available until 2pm while their plant-based dishes are available from 11am to 6pm.

5. Yellow Brick Road

Imagine my disappointment when I dropped by one day and found that Yellow Brick Road at their Plaza Batai location was shut down. Thankfully, it was simply a move to another location not too far away and it is now in The Five complex at Bukit Damansara. Having been around for 7 years, this place needs no further introductions. With a day menu that is available from 8am to 5pm, you don’t have to think twice about having your brunch here.

6. #FIVE Cycle Run Cafe

Char Line’s breakfast and lunch concept, #FIVE is centred on running and cycling. From 7 am to 2:30 pm, they provide a variety of delectable and healthy food, along with freshly made coffee. If you are there for brunch, the Beef Fat Fried Rice and Steak Sandwich are a must-try! For lighter options, go for their Vegetarian Thunder Tea Rice bowl instead. You can bring your pet along too as their garden is a pet-friendly area.

7. Kecur

Located in a quiet neighbourhood in Bukit Damansara, Kecur is the epitome of a homecooked meal because even the bungalow is decorated to feel like a home. This family-run business began as a hawker stall on the side of the road in Sungai Penchala, but it now operates out of a cosy bungalow to accommodate devoted customers who frequently come back for delicious Johorean food such as their Laksa Johor and lontong. If you are craving for a heart-warming and scrumptious meal, this is the place.

8. BaBulan

This restaurant stands out with their bright blue exterior! BaBulan is perfect for family brunches (and date nights too) but let’s focus on brunch. They have a Rise & Shine menu that is available until 2.30pm with vegan and vegetarian options. But what really caught my eye is the Sunday Roast which of course, is only available on Sunday from 10am onwards. Served with soup of the day, Yorkshire pudding, roasted vegetables and your choice of roast beef or roast spring chicken, this Sunday Roast makes for one satisfying meal. 🤤

9. The Bread Shop

If you are not a heavy eater for brunch, this pastry heaven is a wonderful alternative in Bukit Damansara. Or if you are just someone who loves all things bread and pastry. 😅 The moment you walk in, you will be welcomed by their beautifully arranged display of tarts, pastries, and bread. They also serve ciabatta and croissants for a more filling meal. There are so many options available that you can’t go wrong!
