Wow! The year is ending but we still have amazing Malaysians achieving big milestones! In fact, the latest achievement is from Ezzaty Hasbullah who is receiving the Rhodes Scholarship. It is actually the OLDEST scholarship programme in the whole world and only four Malaysians before her have received it. So it’s super prestigious and such a big accomplishment!
Ezzaty Hasbullah is currently a student in University of Pennsylvania completing her degree in health and societies with a major in global health and a minor in anthropology. Next up she will be completing her Masters in social data science as well as a Master in public policy.
Moving on, the Rhodes Scholarship is the world’s oldest scholarship programme to ever exist. It was first introduced in 1903! It’s meant to help develop future leaders through postgraduate studies. Recipients will continue their studies at the University of Oxford with all expenses covered for up to four years.
The scholarship is also one of the most prestigious ones in the world. Only four Malaysians have received it before Ezzaty. Scholars from over 60 countries all around the world apply for the scholarship.
Of course the student must possess amazing grades and perform well academically. However, they must also be active in their community and show leadership skills. Ezzaty is a great example of what is looked at.
In fact, she has volunteered in multiple projects including collecting health data in Guatemala. Furthermore, she previously tutored refugee children in London and participated in relief efforts in Warsaw. Moreover, she has painted murals with school children in West Philadelphia.
She definitely deserves such an amazing scholarship giving her the opportunity to study in the University of Oxford. We would like to congratulate Ezzaty Hasbullah once more!
