Calling anyone above the age of 21! The popular East Imperial Gin Jubilee will be back again for another year in KL. In fact, this year will see 26 bars from around Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya involved. They will compete to be crowned the best gin and tonic drink during the event.
East Imperial Gin Jubilee 2019
For anyone who hasn’t heard of the East Imperial Gin Jubilee, it’s Malaysia’s premier gin and tonic celebration. It began back in 2016 and has steadily grown in popularity. In fact, last year’s Jubilee successfully attracted a crowd of more than 2,000 people.
This year’s Jubilee is presented by premium beverage producer East Imperial and will be held from the 8th to the 12th of October. Meanwhile, the organiser is Wholly Spirits, a popular crafts spirits distributor.
So what to expect this year? Firstly, there will be an opening party at W Kuala Lumpur hotel! Here guests will get to taste gin and tonics made with East Imperial’s range of tonic waters with Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin.
The Jubilee will end with a Gin Lane Finale party on the 12th of October in Sentul Depot. During the party the winner for the best Gin and Tonic drink will be announced. So don’t forget to vote!
Next up, there will be four days of events, tastings, and even masterclasses all revolving around gin of course.
Who’s Participating?
This year’s Jubilee will have 26 local bars from across KL and Petaling Jaya going head to head with each other. Meanwhile, a total of 13 gin brands will also be participating in the event.
Gin brands in the Jubilee include Caorunn Gin, Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin, G’Vine Floraison, Napue, and more. Each participating bar will be given one of the gins to create the best Gin and Tonic.
A total of 26 cocktails will be participating in the contest and anyone can vote for their favourites. In order to vote, just head to any participating bar and try out their new Gin and Tonic drink.
How to Vote
Snap a photo of your drink and post it on Instagram with the hashtags #EastImperial and #GinJubilee2019. Make sure to include the bar’s location in your post as well. Also, don’t forget to set your account on public so your post can be seen. Voting will be running from the 1st of October until midnight of the 12th of October.
There will also be an expert panel of judges to weigh in on their critiques of each drink. So the winner will be based on a mixture of both popularity and expert evaluation.
