Malaysians have another sportsman to be proud of as S.Suresh has won gold for para archery. He is the first ever Malaysian to win the World Archery Para Championships. His achievement only shows the skills and tenacity of our para athletes.

Suresh who is from Kedah competed in the World Archery Para Championships that was held in Hertogenbosch, Holland. His win comes from the men’s recurve category in which he defeated the 2015 world champion.

When up against Eric Bennett from the United States, Suresh did not lose his cool. Instead he showed everyone just how good he is. He beat Eric with an impressive score of 7-3 which landed him the gold.

There has only been one other Malaysian to take back a medal from the World Archery Para Championships. The late Salam Sidik competed back in 2011 and managed to win the bronze medal.

By showing everyone who is boss and winning the gold, Suresh has ensured his spot at the Tokyo Paralympics next year.

We should all be proud of not just Suresh but all our para athletes who strive to do their best. Malaysians should stand together and support them just as much as we support our other athletes who represent us.

Congratulations Suresh! You have made everyone proud and we wish you all the best in your training and preparation for your next challenge. Go out there and show everyone what Malaysia is made of.
