Selangor is home to many good food and each district (there are nine in total) has them. But in this article, we choose to focus on the southwestern side of Selangor, better known as Kuala Langat populated by several towns like Banting, Morib, and Jenjarom. From fueling the day with an old-school local breakfast to sipping good coffee and enjoying seafood dishes, here is our guide to your next food-hunting adventure in Kuala Langat, Selangor.
Rise and shine, folks! Kedai Kopi & Makanan Phua Kian Gian would be a great place to start your day if you are looking for some old-school breakfast. You can find traditional kuihs, pao (Chinese steamed buns) and assorted noodles. They open their coffee shop as early as 7 am in the morning on weekdays and weekends.

3) Mansion 1969
Here’s a vintage cafe in Jenjarom that will have you whip out your phone for some ‘gram-worthy moments. But the charmingly laidback interior isn’t the only attraction here. Food-wise, you’ll be spoilt for choices here, covering rice & noodle dishes to vegetarian cuisines, Western meals and pasta. They also serve some good coffee and desserts too.

4) Restoran Ah Thiam Bak Kut Teh
Restoran Ah Thiam Bak Kut Teh is where you can enjoy either soup or dry versions. They serve their bak kut teh in a claypot, offering a subtle herbal goodness of various pork cuts and other usual add-ons. And have you ever tried bak kut teh with added sea cucumbers in it? Well, you might want to give it a taste, particularly if you are looking for something different for a change. Other than bak kut teh, they also serve various Chinese dishes such as stir-fry vegetables and braised tofu.

Typical mamak food offerings like roti canai and roti telur are among the popular choices here. But if you prefer to try something different, Restaurant I Food Corner has plenty of roti canai specials here, namely Roti Michael Jackson, Roti Hong Kong and Roti Love Bird Nest. They also serve familiar comfort foods like nasi goreng ayam (fried rice with chicken) and nasi lemak telur, both of which come highly recommended.

6) Restoran Cendol Ibrahim Banting
Nothing fancy, just old-school goodness of cendol served in a metal bowl (as it should be!). I’ve been here before and I love their cendol! A nice ratio of shaved ice mixed with cendol jellies, coconut milk and red beans with added palm sugar, giving this iced dessert a distinctly salty-sweet flavour. And while you are at it, don’t forget to pair your cendol with a plate of delicious, crunchy rojak coated with peanut sauce.

If you happen to stop by at Morib during dinnertime, here is where you can fill up your stomach. They serve mainly seafood and Western dishes, offering reasonably-priced choices like buttermilk prawns, fried chicken chop and fish & chips. The place itself is nothing fancy but more of a cosy shack with few chairs and tables.
Address: Jalan Morib, Tongkah, 42700 Banting, Selangor.
This Tanjung Sepat seafood restaurant needs no introduction, given its popularity among many locals and visitors alike. Having visited here twice before during public holidays (and twice this place was mostly occupied during dinnertime), they offer some good choices here. Among the must-tries? Their oyster omelette would be one of them and so is their signature sweet-and-sourish asam fish, butter prawns and salted egg mantis prawns. You have a choice to dine indoors or outdoors facing the sea.
