Owning pets in Singapore can be quite difficult especially if you have a busy lifestyle and not a lot of living space to accommodate a four-legged being. There are also certain rules to follow and the cost of taking care of a pet can be quite high. As an animal lover, all these restrictions would probably make you reconsider owning a pet. But! There is another solution – dog or cat petting cafes where you can go to mingle and spend some time with some furry friends.
Here are 7 dog and cat petting cafes in Singapore for you to go with your friends, family or even for a date!

The first cat petting café in Singapore, Cat Cafe Neko no Niwa is the perfect place to unwind after a long week with coffee, cakes and of course, cats! All 10 cats at the café are rescues – all of them friendly, cute, and fluffy. As Cat Cafe Neko no Niwa have been around for a while, the cats are also older in age by now with all of them aged between 9 to 13 years old. Additionally, they have recently lost one of their cats which has prompted the owners to make the difficult decision of closing the café. Another well-known cat petting café in Singapore located in Bugis area (near Haji Lane), they have been around since 2014. As they are located in a tourist spot, I remember walking past it in my previous visits to Singapore. Unfortunately, I am allergic to cats, so I’ve never been in a cat café before. However, the cats look really friendly, and customers have given a lot of positive feedback. There are 9 cats of different breeds currently in residence – a ragamuffin, a Maine Coon and a Munchkin among them. The space can feel quite small, but it is cozy with spaces made for the cats to play and rest. The owner is a friendly man who is more than happy to relay stories of his cats’ shenanigans and help customers interact with the cats.

A new cat café in town – Paws Claws Petstore is located in the Joo Chiat area and they have a clowder of the fluffiest and most beautiful cats you can imagine. While most cat cafes have mainly adult cats, you can find kittens lounging or playing around at Paws Claws Petstore. The place was established by Adi Rusydi A.Rahman who is also a gemmologist, pet groomer and content creator and the cats are all his own pets. Which makes sense seeing how well-groomed and taken care of they are! The cats are also very docile and approachable with some of them even crawling in your lap for a cuddle.
