Let’s face it, shopping for a mattress can be a daunting experience. Unless, of course, you are not picky and do not mind sleeping on any kind of mattress as long as it’s brand new. But know this: we spend one-third of our life sleeping and it goes without saying that quality sleep is crucial for our overall mental and physical health. Which is why it really helps to invest in a good mattress that benefits us on a long-term basis.
Speaking about mattresses, I had the chance to try out a brand new one thanks to Nosda! Here’s a little bit about Nosda Mattress before getting to my personal experience with it.
Introducing Nosda Mattress
By now, most of us would have heard about boxed beds, better known as bed- or mattress-in-a-box. The concept is exactly what it sounds like: a mattress (rolled and vacuum-sealed in plastic) that comes in a box. They are usually sold online for a fraction of the price than what you usually find in traditional luxury mattresses at brick-and-mortar stores. Among them specialising in bed-in-a-box is Nosda. A Malaysia-based online mattress brand, their primary target is to offer Malaysians an all-in-one mattress not only ideal for back-pain sufferers but that is also able to counter hot flashes and night sweats, as well as to reduce motion disturbance.
A Mattress Made Suitable For Tropical Countries
Thanks to our country’s year-long tropical weather, you’ve probably suffered from “sleep sweats” before. Or maybe, your current mattress is badly insulated. Nosda addresses these problems by adding not one but three cooling layers on their mattresses. This includes an IceSilk mattress cover, which emits cool air as you sleep on it. The Nosda mattress is also layered with activated charcoal-integrated natural latex and gel-infused memory foam — all of which is designed to promote stress- and odour-free sleep while providing efficient ventilation and heat distribution. Nosda also incorporates gel-infused memory foam into their mattresses, where it helps to relieve pressure points and annoying bed sores while it cushions your body. As a result, don’t be surprised to find yourself waking up the next morning a lot fresher!
Better Support = Deeper Sleep
Your mattress’ firmness level matters a lot to help you achieve a good night’s sleep. There are generally three types of firmness in a mattress that includes soft, medium-firm and firm, but there isn’t a one-firmness-fits-all answer since everyone has their own preferences. Furthermore, the different firmness of each mattress is made for different types of sleepers. Nosda combines the best of both worlds by making their mattresses medium-firm, suitable for most people. Most importantly, it doesn’t sag easily, providing better support and even weight distribution. This encourages deeper sleep throughout the night as Nosda mattresses’ foam materials are uniquely designed to support all five parts of our bodies (head/neck, shoulders, torso, back and legs).
No More Sliding
We’ve all been there before at some point in our life, where mattresses end up slipping or sliding from the slats or on the floor. It’s annoying and may cause restless sleep. Thankfully, Nosda manages to counter such a problem by adding an IceSilk anti-slip pad on the bottom. This is to ensure your mattress remains securely in place. During the first few nights of the sleep test, the mattress was placed on the floor. And even with all the body rolling over and repositioning, there wasn’t any sliding or slipping issues.
One of the biggest advantages of shopping a bed-in-the-box online is its extended sleep trial period. Nosda has that and the good news is, you are automatically granted a 100-night-risk-free sleep trial upon receiving your mattress. That means no more (frankly) insufficient “10-minute” sleep test when shopping for a mattress at a traditional brick-and-mortar store. Besides, it may take up to 8 weeks for our body to adjust to a new mattress. So, in case you feel the Nosda mattress isn’t right for you, simply return it for a full refund. Sleeping On A Nosda Mattress
Now, having slept on a Nosda mattress for over a week, I have to admit it takes time to get used to it. I’ve been sleeping on my old memory foam mattress for almost a decade and the first few nights caused me some minor body sores. Frankly, this is understandable since any brand new mattress requires a break-in period (imagine buying a new pair of shoes and you’ll roughly get my idea).
But sleeping on a Nosda mattress over time proved to be increasingly comfortable. The mattress’ medium-firmness provided ample support to my back (I’m more of a back sleeper) throughout the night. No more constant backache almost every morning previously experienced from sleeping on my old mattress! Thanks to Nosda’s gel-infused memory foam and IceSilk mattress cover, my previous experience of sleeping hot has now become a distant memory. It feels cooler to the touch, helping me regulate my body temperature — a polar opposite from what my old memory foam mattress which tends to retain significant body heat.
Personally, I thought Nosda does a good job putting together a mattress that actually deliver its promises rather than a fancy, empty gimmick. The RM1,699-onward price can be a turn-off for some people looking for a budget-friendly option. But given its numerous value-for-money features, this could your next best investment for your overall well-being in the long run.
