If there’s one thing about nasi lemak in Malaysia, it’s that most of us will jointly recognise it as our unofficial national food. Everyone enjoys nasi lemak, and even as there are various styles and flavours now available, it is still very much a staple. In fact, it’s so popular that it is now being incorporated into other food types such as burgers and even cakes! However, if you are simply looking to enjoy nasi lemak as it is with no frills and no fuss, Nasi Lemak Mek Sambal Warisan is where you should go.

About Nasi Lemak Mek Sambal Warisan

Nursyamimi binti Mohd Anuar founded Nasi Lemak Mek Sambal Warisan in 2012/2013, and has been running the business for about eight years now. Currently, there are two outlets: Gerai Nasi Lemak Mek Sambal Warisan at Jalan Wangsa Melawati 3, and Restoran Nasi Lemak Mek Sambal Warisan at Jalan Dagang B/3A, Taman Dagang Ampang. With support from her husband, together they created the concept for Nasi Lemak Mek Sambal Warisan to be a true Malaysian cuisine, by way of their nasi lemak. As the business grew, Nursyamimi invited a friend to collaborate and join her in her business venture.

A Mother’s Inspiration

Before starting up Nasi Lemak Mek Sambal Warisan, Nursyamimi was a secretary in a corporate company. Prior to this, she had never thought to start a business of her own, much less in the F&B industry. However, a mother’s inspiration knows no bounds, and Nursyamimi decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps of going into the F&B line. Her mother has a canteen/cafe in HUKM, and has been in the F&B line for many years. Seeing her mother determined and hard at work encouraged her to start her nasi lemak business. With full support and faith from her husband, Nursyamimi launched Nasi Lemak Mek Sambal Warisan. From her two outlets, she hopes to expand her business and set up more outlets nationwide.

It All Lies Within The Sambal

As its name suggests, Nasi Lemak Mek Sambal Warisan’s specialty is its sambal. The recipe for their special sambal is a family recipe, passed down from generation to generation. As such, it is very tasty and suitable for all to enjoy. Besides the sambal itself, there are also more side dishes for which they are well known for, including Ayam Goreng Berempah, Sambal Sotong and Sambal Paru. Furthermore, Nasi Lemak Mek Sambal Warisan doesn’t skimp on quality, and the aroma of “santan” (coconut milk) from the rice wafting through the air is enough to get your tummy growling. All wrapped up in a banana leaf, a basic Nasi Lemak Mek is priced at an affordable RM1.20 only!

To Share Nasi Lemak’s True Delicacy

From day to day, Nasi Lemak Mek Sambal Warisan strives to improve on their service, food presentation, and of course, their food quality. Just like most of everyone else, the pandemic has put them through tough times, but ultimately they hope they will be able to set up more outlets throughout Malaysia, and to share the true delicacy of their nasi lemak! After all, their nasi lemak has been passed down though generations, and retains the authentic, traditional taste of nasi lemak!
