Whether you’re a budding athlete or a weekend jogger, it’s always nice to have nice scenery during a workout. So enough of the mundane workout activities, take in some nice views around you by checking out these awesome jogging spots in KL and Selangor!
1) Bukit Kiara Park, Taman Tun
A favourite among many, this trail is used by everyone from joggers, brisk walkers and even those training up for marathons. Because of its popularity, you can be assured that there will be people around and it won’t get too lonely. With lush green surroundings and occasional visits from critters like monkeys, you can really be one with nature here.
2) KLCC Park, KL
If you like your jogging trail to be near landmarks – look no further than KLCC Park, which is framed by a particularly iconic Malaysian building, The Petronas Twin Towers. A man-made lake flanks the surroundings and features water fountains that perk up the park every day. With 50-acres to work with, and activities to keep the young ones occupied (wading pool and playground anyone?) this is suitable for the entire family.
3) FRIM, Kepong
For a more educational jog, head over to FRIM and explore their various Nature Trails. Besides getting a good workout, you’ll learn more about the various trees and flora planted there. There is the Keruing Trail, Salleh Trail, Engkabang Trail, Sebasah Trail and Razak Walk – which happens to be the first trail that’s suitable for differently abled individuals. When you’re all worked out, why not settle down for a picnic near Sungai Kroh where there is also a cafeteria.
4) Taman Metropolitan, Kepong
Another family friendly location is Taman Metropolitan in Kepong. This 117-hectare urban park offers a wide range of facilities, and is surrounded by gorgeous trees and contains a big lake, so you’ll be able to do a whole lot more than jog here. Also, kids can go crazy at the playground too. You can choose to challenge or pace yourself here for a jog, as there are hilly and flat surfaces to work with.
5) Perdana Botanical Garden, KL
Formerly called The Lake Gardens, this park has received a face-lift in more than one way. Aside from the new name, it has also evolved from just being a recreational park to a botanical wonderland – with a rehabilitated garden and an ambiance similar to that of a tropical rainforest. Moreover, this is another great place to head to if you have an interest in finding out more about the plants as you jog along the paths.
6) Central Park, Bandar Utama
If you don’t mind sharing your jogging path with a few curious dogs, then Central Park in Bandar Utama is a great choice for a workout spot. Additionally, it features a few lakes (with terrapins!), and lots of greenery, this park is dog-friendly, but owners must be responsible enough to pick up after their pets, so the chances of stepping on something unpleasant are rare, as the park is very well-kept.
7) Taman Saujana Hijau, Putrajaya
This picturesque recreational park has a hilly jogging track, and as you get your cardio workout going you will be greeted by the loveliest blooms and greenery, making for quite an interesting journey. And quite journey it will be, as the park is divided into sections with themes, like European, Continental and English. The park is located at Precinct 11 of Putrajaya.
8) The Central Park, Desa Park City
Desa Park City’s stunning Central Park looks like it came out of a catalogue, with manicured lawns, a leveled jogging path, and trees around the entire area. Additionally, there is also a children’s playground and a man-made stream, making it a lovely stop for the whole family.
