When night draws in Kuala Lumpur, the city is still alive and vibrant. Hence, the city still offers places to visit and things to do when you are out in Kuala Lumpur at night.


1) Istana Budaya (National Theater)

Istana Budaya means the “Palace of Culture”. It is among the top 10 most sophisticated theaters in the world. It is proud to be the first theater in Asia equipped with cutting-edge stage equipment that is on par with the Royal Albert Hall in London. The form of the main building is taken from “sirih junjung”. “Sirih junjung” is a traditional arrangement of betel leaves used in at Malay weddings and welcoming ceremonies. Istana Budaya’s interior was built from Langkawi marble and decorated with tropical wooden doors, which feature hand carved flower and leaf motifs. This place is a work of art in and of itself.

2) SkyBar

If you fancy a relaxing evening with a cocktail or two while gazing at the illuminated wonders of the Petronas Tower, SkyBar at the Traders hotel offers just that. 3) Dewan Filharmonik Petronas

Dewan Filharmonik Petronas also known as the Petronas Philharmonic Hall. It is Malaysia’s first purpose built concert hall for classical music and home of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. It is a world class establishment which frequently hosts local performances and international musicians including Joshua Bell, the Vienna Symphony and the New York Philharmonic.

4) Changkat Bukit Bintang

Changkat Bukit Bintang plays host to some of Kuala Lumpurs best night scene. There’s number of bars, clubs, discos and fine dining restaurants line both sides of the street making it a very popular place for locals, expats and foreigners. This is your place to hang out if you love the nightlife.

5) Petaling Street Market

The famous Petaling Street Market is located in the core area of Chinatown. It is the place where you will find a multitude of knock-off goods which include watches, t-shirts, bags and the occasional fruit and food stalls. Some of the best local hawkers and restaurants serving good Chinese food can also be found here at Jalan Hang Lekir. Roadside tables are covered with bright coloured table cloth to indicate the shops while foreigners sit and have local Chinese dishes with cold beer.

6) Dataran Merdeka or Merdeka Square

Dataran Merdeka is also known as the Merdeka Square. It is famous as a historical and recreational park in KL. Malayan flag was first hoisted here in 1957. There’s a wide and green field beside the square that makes it a good picnic spot and a spacious playground for kids. The vicinity of the square is also home to many historical buildings in Kuala Lumpur such as the Old KL Train Station, Galeri Kuala Lumpur, Royal Selangor Club Complex, and the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. The well-lit vicinity and the cool night breeze makes it a good place to rest and relax after a busy day going around Kuala Lumpur at night.

7) Petronas Twin Towers

Petronas Twin Towers used to be the world’s tallest skyscraper in 1998 to 2004. There is also a popular skybridge walkway that links the 42nd floors of both of these towers. You can have a memorable visit to admire the panorama with the beautiful sight and shimmering high against the skies. Looking at the Petronas Towers during nighttime will make you feel surreal with all the grand lights and the colors that it emits no matter how angle you look at it. It is picture perfect. You can also have a walk in the luxury mall (Suria KLCC) inside the towers, and have a great dinner in one of the restaurant there.

8) KL Tower

Jalan Alor Food Street is a lively night market packed with street restaurants selling food from all over Asia with a cheap price. You will have a great fun wandering around the different street restaurants and food stalls while soaking into the atmosphere and all the delicious smells.

10) Heli Lounge Bar

There are 2 part on this bar which is a proper bar at level 34 and you have to walk up the stairs to get to the Helipad. The 360 view is amazing. Dresscode is smart casual.
