7 Ice Cream Spots in Klang Valley (2023 Edition)

Ice cream, gelato, soft serve, sorbet… whatever your choice is, this sweet treat lightens up one’s mood and cools you down. You can enjoy them any time you want. One scoop? Double scoops? Or even triple scoops? Take your pick. So, whether you fancy the good old classic flavours or something premium/unique, we have compiled a list of 7 places to enjoy ice cream in Klang Valley.

1) Jom Chá by Farm Fresh

(Most) of us are familiar with the Farm Fresh milk sold in cartons and jugs in supermarkets. But this local dairy brand also has its own shops selling milk-based boba beverages, yoghurt drinks and even soft serves. The latter is one of their bestsellers, using Farm Fresh (what else?) milk as the base. The milk-based soft serve is good enough on its own — it’s creamy, light and airy. And most of all, it tastes refreshing. You can build flavour too by adding a topping for a fraction of the price. They have choices like Mango Crystal Boba, Butterscotch Sauce and Biscoff Biscuit Crumbs, just to name a few.

2) Paolo Paolo Gelato

The Five @ KPD (Kompleks Pejabat Damansara) at Bukit Damansara houses plenty of shops and one of them includes Paolo Paolo Gelato. Located at Block E, the shop serves different flavours like Pistachio, Lemon Mascarpone and Stracciatella (milk-based gelato with chocolate flakes). All of their smooth-tasting and creamy gelatos are handcrafted in small batches. You can enjoy it on a waffle cone or cup, or pair your favourite gelato on top of a waffle. Can’t take dairy? Paolo Paolo Gelato has sorbets like strawberry basil and raspberry to try here. Another thing worth mentioning here is Paolo Paolo Gelato rotates its flavours on a weekly basis.

Address: E-GF-01, The Five, Kompleks Pejabat Damansara, No 49, Jalan Dungun, Bukit Damansara, 50490 Kuala Lumpur.

3) TUG Gelato

Bright and bold. Just like the green stairway leading to the first floor of TUG Gelato, where “you’re just one scoop away…” to taste delicious artisanal gelato. TUG, short for The Unusual Greens is named as such because of the owner’s dedication to combat food waste — imperfect/flawed fruits, to be exact — by incorporating them into gelato. So, you get real fruity-flavoured gelato waiting for your arrival — Avocado Pistachio, Soursop Calamansi, Banana Mango Toffee and even sorbets like mango and raspberry. You can have it the usual way in a waffle cone or a cup. But if you fancy something different, do try their gelato or sorbet wrapped in mochi rice paper a.k.a. daifuku.

Address: 43-1, Jalan Equine 9a, Taman Equine, 43300 Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

4) Kunafa Crisp

Their signature kunafa may have been the highlight here. But so does Kunafa Crisp’s pistachio-based soft serve ice cream. Available in regular/medium/large-size cups, each ice cream is drizzled with honey. It’s nice enough on its own since the sweetness of the latter complements well with the refreshingly nutty flavour of pistachio ice cream. And more so if you are a fan of pistachio! For add-ons, level up your pistachio ice cream by opting for Honey Nuts or the best-selling Honey Crisp Ice Cream.

5) Churn Ice Cream

Churn’s motto for good ice creams is pure and simple. And that is, all natural with none of the usual nasties (read: preservatives and artificial colourings). That means what you’ll get here is quality ice cream at every lick or spoonful. When comes to its flavour availability, they cover the likes of Madagascar Vanilla, Nutty Pistachio, Fresh Strawberry Milk and Japanese Matcha. Enjoy up to 3 scoops of your choice (hey, who can say “no” to an ice cream, right?). Or if possible, top your favourite ice cream(s) on their signature savoury and crispy sourdough waffle.

Address: 58, Jalan SS 21/58, Damansara Utama, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

6) Cream Factory

With over 15 types of artisanal gelato to choose from, there’s something for everyone here at Cream Factory. They have classic flavours like French Vanilla, Cookies & Cream and Mint Chocolate Chip. For something fruity, Lychee and Soursop sorbets are among the choices to refresh your taste bud. Add a fraction of the price and upgrade your flavour option with the likes of the rich Belgian Chocolate or the creamy-nutty Pistachio. You can have your gelato served on a homemade cone or for the ultimate indulgence, why not pair them with buttermilk waffles?

7) Koe Gelato

The Petaling Jaya-based Koe Gelato has no brick-and-mortar shoplot since they only offer delivery and pick-up services. Koe Gelato’s speciality lies in its tea-based gelato mixed with sorbet. Flavours are very limited but those who love tea in their gelato would appreciate the combo here. Try their Grapefruit Oolong Gelato — a blend of citrusy grapefruit with the earthy Tie Guan Yin tea. Or stick to the more classic tea flavours including the roasted Hojicha and grassy Matcha gelato. All of their gelato are handcrafted in small batches using only premium ingredients. You can place your order right here.
