Two words: homemade pearls. That’s what Hollin is known for and if it’s not enough, this Taiwan bubble tea brand have their flavoured pearls specially available on different days of the week. For instance, if you want to enjoy their “Palmy Coconut Pearls”, they are only available on Wednesdays. The only pearls you can get all week long is “Honey White Pearls”. Their menu consists of three types of drinks: “Tea Latte Series”, “Rock Salt Macchiato Series” and “Refreshing Tea Series”. Teafolia prides on using fresh fruits and quality tea leaves from around the world, namely Taiwan’s Four Seasons oolong tea and Sri Lanka’s Royal Ceylon black tea to blend their range of fruit teas. Some of their menus include “Signature Fruit Tea”, a refreshing concoction of Premium Four Seasons tea with fresh pineapple and various fresh fruits. Woobbee is known for serving premium and healthy tea. They even use natural raw sugar for their tea selection, which is both unbleached and chemical-free. The Taiwan-based KOI opened its first overseas outlet in Toa Payoh back in 2007. Today, you can easily find KOI at more than 40 outlets in Singapore alone. KOI uses freshly-picked tea leaves, natural ingredients and soft water to brew their freshest range of tea possible. Among their recommended teas include the “Golden Bubble Milk Tea, “Matcha Latte” and “Taro Q Milk Tea”. 6) R&B Tea
“R&B” actually referred to Rex and Bruce. They are both Taiwanese who owned the brand when they first started out in China. The bubble tea brand is particularly famous for their fruit tea series including the signature “Mighty Luffy” (Hawaiian fruit tea with mixed fruits) and “Devil’s Booster” (Peach tea with pineapple and orange blend). Earlier this year, R&B brought the latest Taiwan’s bubble-tea craze known as “Brown Sugar Boba Milk”. It’s a bubble tea made from chilled fresh milk and brown sugar, while the tapioca pearls are cooked for hours to give a soft and chewy mouthfeel. 7) LiHO
LiHO is a homegrown bubble-tea brand that famously taken over the Gong Cha outlets in 2017. They subsequently made their mark with the introduction of cheese tea in the bubble tea market. It was actually a combination of flavoured tea topped with cream cheese that became so popular until other rivals start to make their own version of cheese tea. To date, LiHo has expanded progressively at more than 89 outlets in Singapore ranging from Amara Hotel to Zhong Shan Mall.
8) Bobii Frutii
Bobii Frutti is popularly known for their colourful concoction that made them a snapshot favourite among Instagrammers. They insist that each tea is made fresh including milk and pearls with no artificial flavourings, man-made essences or preservatives whatsoever. They have 37 drinks on the menu including quirkily-named bubble teas like “Mermaid’s Tears” (mango juice with honey, yogurt and butterfly pea bobii) and “Pandora’s Treasure” (lemon juice and butterfly pea extract). I Love Taimei made its debut in the Bugis outlet in 2009, offering a fusion menu of bubble teas and Taiwanese street snacks. Their bubble teas are all given wonderful names like “Sunny Island” (mango, fresh milk, butterfly-pea flower tea and Mango Popz) and “Starry Night” (lemon, Yakult, butterfly pea flower tea and chia seeds). You can also add your own toppings ranging from the classic pearl to other varieties like konjac, aloe vera and Aiyu jelly.
