Located at USJ19, among the greasy stretch of car workshops, stands 1,700 sf W_are_house. Some describe it as the rose among the thorns, some like how private the location make them feel, It is said to be the least expected place to throw ANY party.
The Story of W_are_house
It all started when Elaine (at that time a Malaysian cabin crew who resides in Singapore) wanted to rent a place for herself to stay whenever she is back in Malaysia. Her initial plan was to rent a simple terrace house in Subang Jaya thinking that she could also sublet it to others as she was often travelling around due to the nature of her work. With this plan in mind, she began looking for a place with her partner, Vincent.
During the property hunt, instead of a terrace house, the couple came across this abandoned shop lot which was Instagram-worthy despite its dubious outer look. The couple thought it would be cool to have a place like this to chill with friends during the weekends as it was quiet and secluded, and at the same time of course a place for Elaine to stay when she is back in Malaysia. Unfortunately the shop owner decided not to rent the property.
Elaine & Vincent fell in love with this kind of concept since they saw the abandoned shop lot. Now with the idea of a rustic concept place, the search narrowed down to places similar to that abandoned looking shop lot. Finally, this warehouse in USJ19 was found.
Introduction to W_are_house
W_are_house was initially discovered in December 2014 as a place to stay and chill out with friends. Elaine’s Birthday Party was the first event ever held at the warehouse. That was when the idea to turn this warehouse into an event space struck them.
Started operating as an event space in June 2015, W_are_house is a rustic industrial warehouse in Subang Jaya, converted into a place for people to host their events/functions/gigs/parties. From a simple gathering to formal meetings and company annual dinners, W_are-house has hosted close to a hundred events now since the beginning, including a few live performances and music video shoots.
“We even had a beautiful marriage proposal at the warehouse, and she said YES!” said Elaine.

What makes W_are_house unique and different from other event spaces is that it is super dodgy from the outside. The whole idea is to bring out the element of surprise and the WOW factor which the couple thinks is important in any occasions.

W_are_house is a newly renovated rustic warehouse venue. As soon as you enter the warehouse, you will be amazed by the inspiring interior of W_are_house which uses mostly cement grey, bricks, wood color as theme. Imagine ceiling full of festoon lights above you with a total of 3 different settings or mood of lighting. Bright, vibrant and dimmed. The venue also equips you with a ladder-reach size chalkboard wall and many other cool amenities from punching bags to ping pong table! The Founders of W_are_house
W_are_house was founded by a young couple, Elaine and Vincent. While Elaine was a kindergarten teacher and a Singapore Airlines cabin crew, Vincent is currently a student from INTI College.
Elaine and Vincent both share the same adventurous spirit, and love spontaneous activities and travelling. The couple enjoys trying out new things, experimenting and tasting nice food, watching mind twisting movies, discovering new music and karaoke, and chilling with close friends over some drinks. And all of these activities become the inspiration to the creation of W_are_house.
Vision of W_are_house
Moving forward, the couple hopes to expand and make W_are_house more comfortable for all guests. They hope to continuously provide everybody with a versatile space which can accommodate based on their creative imagination. Most importantly, they want their guests to feel at home while creating their memorable moments at the warehouse.
“What we want is to create the ‘personal touch’ with all our guests. We believe in building good rapport, and we strive to treat each guest with respect and to assist them as much as we can.” Said Elaine.
