The history of bread goes back at least 30,000 years. The first bread produced was probably cooked versions of a grain-paste, made from roasted and ground cereal grains and water, and may have been developed by accidental cooking or deliberate experimentation with water and grain flour. Bread has come a long way since then and we have seen innovation and fusion including Mentaiko and even the famous salted egg yolk. While every person has their own preference for bread, should you ever crave for one while in Penang, do pop by Bread History and get a slice for yourself!

The Bread Loving Dream

Being the chief baker in a well-known bakery, Mr. Simon Auyong had always dreamt of running his own bakery. After failing a few start-ups in Singapore, losing almost every penny he had, he came back to Penang broken-hearted. Back in the days, baking industry in Penang revolved around traditional baked products. It was the perfect opportunity to introduce something new to Penang consumers, and that lighted up Simon’s inner fire to bake again. Despite all odds, he found an outlet for rent at Prangin Mall (First outlet) and created Bread History.
