There is a famous saying in the movie Ratatouille that goes “In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Chef Gusteau’s famous motto: ‘Anyone can cook.’ But I realise, only now do I truly understand what he meant. Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere.”. That sentence rings true as many famous chefs started their culinary career from a dream or the humble abode of their home. It is undeniable that a huge majority of Singaporeans love food as they have become a symbol of the nation, and is often the topic of conversations during a gathering. Whether you are one of those with a passion for cooking, or would like to have a go at cooking classes, Palate Sensations is an option for you.

The Birth of Palate Sensations

Lynette Foo is the woman behind the Palate Sensations Cooking School. She chose the chef profession as part of her high school career experience and spent one week working in the kitchens of the famous Summit Restaurant in Sydney, Australia. She actually did well enough for the Executive Chef to consider her for an apprenticeship. She pursued a career in Accounting & Finance due to receiving a scholarship to attend university. However, throughout her corporate career, her passion for cooking and food continued to grow as she traveled the world. She started to amass a sizable collection of recipes and never stopped entertaining her family and friends wherever she set up home. After working more than 12 years in the corporate world in Australia, Asia, and Switzerland, she decided to follow her true passion and in January 2005, Palate Sensations was born.

Palate Sensations’ Ultimate Goal

The leisure lifestyle school was started to bridge the gap between the home gourmand and the professional chef. Their aim is to evoke culinary and baking passions in their participants as some of them have gone onto professional culinary careers.

They take pride in seeing how versatile their participants have become after attending their classes. Instead of simply replicating recipes, their participants are taught how to understand culinary principles. They can then tweak existing recipes and even create their own in time to come. Palate Sensations wants to continue sharing their passion for cooking and baking.
